Summary: A View To a Kill
Comments: Roger Moore is back for his last appearance as James Bond in A View To a Kill. With some great action such as a thrilling hand-to-hand combat fight in which OO7 battles Zorin on top of the Golden Gate Bridge, a car chase through the streets of San Francisco, a chase on horses at Zorin's estate, a great pre-title ski chase, and a battle in a mine where MayDay and Bond must get a bomb out of a mine while escaping rushing water.Duran Duran's A View To a Kill was the biggest hit out of all the OO7 themes, though I like Live and Let Die better. The score was very good by John Barry.Though Moore and Roberts acting wasn't very good (especially Roberts), that is made up for by terrific acting performances from Grace Jones, Patrick McSteed, and especially Christopher Walken.Max Zorin is one of my favorite Bond villains along with Emilio Largo from Thunderball and Ernst Blofeld from Diamonds are Forever. The plot was cool too.The idea of destroying Silicon Valley is good. But if you want better Roger Moore, check out The Spy who Loved Me, (his best), Live and Let Die, or Octopussy.

For Your Eyes Only
ASIN:630251004X
Our Price: $9.94

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: More believable story than most Bond films
Comments: This isn't the best Bond film ever, but it's the best with Roger Moore by a longshot. Of course it has the usual gadgets and girls. I think what makes this a little different are the villians. The lead villian is a more believable charactor, being a double agent trying to sell some equipment to the Russians. He's not some multi-billionaire hell bent on world domination like most Bond villians. This movie also stands out as being a little different because for a little while, it keeps you guessing who the real villian is. Is it Topol or Julian Glover? Both actors play their roles very well, as does Roger Moore. The only complaint of mine is the opening pre-credit scene which was just plain stupid. BUT... at least during that scene he finally kills Bloefeld. The opening scene of For Your Eyes Only is the last time you ever hear from Bloefeld in the rest of the entire James Bond series. I just think that scene overall was poorly constructed. Once you get past that, the movie is great.

The first outing with Roger Moore as Ian Flemings James Bond-007. Live and Let Die has hardly any relation with the book in which it is based on. The Last thing I want to say(Well write really) is that I would rate this Movie as a 1000 out of 5.

The Man with the Golden Gun
ASIN: 6302510015
Our Price: $9.94

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Walther PPK vs. Golden Gun
Comments: Roger Moore once again returns as the suave agent 007 in Bond's 9th outing on the silver screen. I've read other reviews saying that it's the worst Bond of all. Well I'm tempted to disagree. I thought that this was an excellent movie with a moving plot and story-line. The movie starts out when MI6 headquarters receieves a golden bullet with the number 007 on it, sent to them courtesy of Scaramanga's girlfriend. This means that 007 is Scaramanga's next target to kill, so it's up to James Bond to find Scaramanga and figure out what is all behind this.
"The Man With The Golden Gun" includes some documentaries that look interesting. That is the nice thing I enjoy about DVD format, all the extras included in all of the movies. I can't wait to see the trailers and of course, the documentary entitled "Inside 'The Man With The Golden Gun.'" The thing I found dissatisfying is the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.66:1. I've never heard anything such as that, so I'm guessing it's going to be close to the formatted screen. It will be close, but we will soon find out.
This is Roger Moore's second stab at James Bond, as he seems to fit into the role much easier and much nicer. I felt in "Live and Let Die," he was a little uptight, due to the fact that he was relieving Sean Connery. Here, has found his portrayal of 007 and fills the role nicely. I enjoyed this movie very much and can't wait to see it on DVD.

Moonraker
ASIN: 6302510031
Our Price: $9.94

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Definitely the most underrated Bond
Comments: The fact that Moonraker remains one of the most unpopular Bond movies is a real travesty. Moonraker is a brilliantly conceived attempt to bring 007 into the sci-fi world, i.e. the one realm he hasn't yet conquered: space. The film glides smoothly from one action sequence to another, connected by a solid plotline and truly exotic locations. The casting is well spot-on: Roger Moore(my favourite) as Bond, Michael Lonsdale as the demented Hugo Drax, Lois Chiles plays astronaut/CIA agent Holly Goodhead with distinction, and Corinne Clery is excellent as Drax's aide Corinne Dufour - who helps Bond when he visits Drax Industries, but sadly pays the ultimate price for it. Moonraker also features one of the most sinister plots in the series: Drax plans to wipe out the world's population with an ultra-deadly nerve gas dispersed from outer space, and then replace it with his own "master" race. Of course it sounds insane, but insane storylines like this are what keeps the Bond franchise going. The use of light-hearted humour also reaches its peak here, and it connects brilliantly with Moore's style of acting. Personally, I think that Moonraker should be given its rightful place in the Bond Hall of Fame. A supreme 007 adventure.

Octopussy
ASIN: 630251018X
Our Price: $9.94

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Bond's On An Island Of Beautiful Women in "Octopussy"
Comments: "Octopussy" is the thirteenth entry of the James Bond series produced by Cubby Broccoli and it marks the sixth appearance of Roger Moore as the British secret agent. John Glen returns to the series to make his second of four directorial efforts in this film. The title of this film is taken from an Ian Fleming short story which is actually told by the title character to James Bond in the film. Only one part of the film, the auction, is based on Fleming's work, in this case the short story "Property of a Lady". The rest of the screenplay was conceived and written by longtime Bond associates, Richard Maibaum and Michael Wilson.
The story begins with the discovery of a fake Fabrege Easter egg in East Berlin. Its genuine counterpart is about to be auctioned off in London and M, head of MI6, is worried that this is part of a Soviet operation to raise hard currency. Bond is assigned to attend the auction and report what he can see. What starts out as a simple assignment quickly becomes more involved. Bond first encounters Kamal Khan, a disposessed Afghan prince and apparent jewelry fence. As Bond follows Kamal back to his home in India, he finds that Kamal is involved with a female jewel smuggler known only as Octopussy. But behind them both is Soviet General Orlov and his plans involve more than just selling off jewels from the state archives. Bond must find out what Orlov is up to and stop him.
The cast of characters in "Octopussy" is as wide and varied as ever seen in a Bond. Bond is opposed not by one but two master villians. Actor Louis Jourdan portrays the smooth but deadly Kamal Khan and Steven Berkoff nearly steals the show as the maniacal General Orlov. Kamal's henchman Golinda, played by Kabir Bedi, is a worthy successor to the likes of Red Grant and Oddjob. David and Tony Meyer nicely round out the villians as the twin killers, Mischa and Grischa. Kristina Wayborn makes good impression as Magda although she comes off as a little stiff in a couple of her earlier scenes. The film's title character is played by Maud Adams, whose performance as the smart but sensuous businesswoman Octopussy is quite excellent. The regular cast of characters are here as well with Robert Brown debuting as "M" and with Lois Maxwell and Desmond Llewelyn reprising their roles of Miss Moneypenny and "Q". Bond's trusty sidekick in India is played by newcomer Vijay Amritraj.
The screenplay to its credit maintains a strong storyline, no mean feat considering the number of characters and the number of fights and chase scenes. The scenes where Bond is racing to prevent the fulfillment of General Orlov's plans are both amusing and suspenseful, worthy of comparison to films like Goldfinger. The final assault of Kamal's palace is a bit weak but the ensuring fight between Gobinda and Bond on the outside of a twin-engine aircraft is first-rate.
The MGM Special Edition DVD of "Octopussy" has, like most of the other DVDs, an excellent widescreen print. The DVD also contains a couple of interesting documentaries, an audio commentary track, and many other goodies. As with any movie presenting in a widescreen format, this DVD is best seen on a large-screen TV.
"Octopussy" is one of those few Bond movies, especially in the Roger Moore's era, that seem to blend all the elements, exotic locations, colorful villians, spectacular physical action, suspenseful plot, into a masterful whole. If not the best of his individual performances, "Octopussy" is certainly the most entertaining of the Roger Moore Bonds. It is a shame that he was persuaded to do another Bond, this effort would have been a great swan song for Roger Moore. This DVD is a must for any Bond fan's collection.
